|
|---|---|---|
| Material | Premium forged steel engineered for lasting strength and corrosion resistance. | Often stamped or made from standard steel blends that may sacrifice durability or rust resistance. |
| Sharpness | 20% sharper than standard knives, thanks to laser-guided PEtec technology. | Factory-sharpened blades that start strong but dull faster and lack precision honing. |
| Craftsmanship | Hand-finished in Solingen, Germany with 200+ years of expertise and precision in every detail. | Mass-produced or partially outsourced craftsmanship that lacks the same heritage and consistency. |
| Corrosion Resistance | Exceptional rust resistance for a blade that stays beautiful for decades. | Prone to staining or rust if not carefully maintained—especially with frequent kitchen use. |
| Edge Retention | Stays sharper twice as long as ordinary knives, reducing the need to re-sharpen. | Edges wear faster over time, requiring more frequent sharpening and touch-ups. |
| Limited Lifetime Warranty | Limited lifetime warranty – a promise backed by generations of quality. | Lifetime coverage may exist, but with less transparency and variable service depending on the brand. |

Trims meat like a dream
"I LOVE my Wusthof knives. My husband bought me a FULL set at least 25 years ago. I have had a some handles crack in that time (understandable after 25 years) and they have stood by their warranty and replaced them at no charge to me. I cannot recommend these highly enough. Also, I love to cook so they get a LOT of use. Only thing is you CANNOT put them in the dishwasher and I don’t. Love, love, love these knives and this company."
Beautiful
"This was the 2nd of two knives we got our home chef son for his birthday. He couldn’t have been more thrilled and ecstatic about receiving Wusthof knives. The quality, balance & beauty of them are remarkable. They look and feel awesome. He can’t wait to start using them!"

Q&A
- What type of wood is best for a cutting board when using your knives? Teak wood?
- We don't have a particular preference or recommendation for the "best" wood for a cutting board. We do recommend a wood cutting board as it will be more gentle on your knives. Whether you select maple, beech, walnut, teak, acacia, cherry or pecan is up to your esthetic preference and budget. You will want to properly maintain your wood cutting board with mineral oil or beeswax to keep it seasoned. Bamboo is the hardest of wood options and one that we would not recommend.
